About the event

Salamander Racing invites you to race #1 of the 2024 Utah Gravity Series

The Showdown at Sundance Mountain Resort
Downhill Mountain Bike Race

Sunday, June 2
The Utah Gravity Series opener is back at Sundance Mountain Resort.  This year’s track will be identical to the course that we raced on last August and  incorporate elements of the courses a few years ago but will include a bunch of new sections. The new course features parts of the recently constructed flow trails mixed with some older trail sections that made this race so popular in the past. This course will  offer everything from whoop-dee-do flow trail to steep, technical singletrack to scary-fast fire road and about everything in between.  The race will start at the Outlaw Lift summit. All racers will run at 1 minute start intervals.

Downhill limited to 160 entrants.

Downhill Start Times
Sunday Downhill Race at 11:00 a.m. starting with Cat 2 and 3.  Cat 1 and Pro will start shortly after the completion of the Cat 3s. The race will be a 1-run format.  Please be at the Start Gate early. If you miss your start time, you won’t get a timed run. You should be loading on the Outlaw Lift no later than 30 minutes prior to your posted start time.  Individual start times for the Downhill Race will be posted at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday at the base of the Outlaw Lift.

Course Opening and Lift Information
Downhill track will be ready for full course inspection Saturday morning. The lift opens at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and will begin loading at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Lift fees are NOT included in your race entry fee.  You must purchase a lift pass from Sundance Resort for each day you plan on riding the lift.  Sundance is offering a discounted “Race Weekend Special” rate of $45 per day, from May 31 to June 2, and will be available to registered racers only during that time frame. To receive the discounted rate, you must purchase lift tickets online by going to www.sundanceresort.com and entering code Showdown24. Lift passes are not transferrable.

Awards
The Downhill Award Ceremony takes place a.s.a.p. after racing on Sunday, at the finish area. Medals will be presented to the top 3 finishers in each Cat/Class (cash purse for Pro Class). Racers all have a chance to win great prizes via raffles during the Award Ceremony.
