Smith Rock Ascent

May 18, 2019 - May 19, 2019 # 6

The 50K lollipop style course that involves ~4100 ft of elevation gain has amazing views of the Cascade mountains, the sheer rock faces at Smith Rock State Park and the unique beauty of the grasslands. 75% of the course is on sweet single-track trails. There are 4 fully stocked aid stations.

The 15-mile race quickly rises above the dramatic cliffs in one of Oregon’s most scenic state parks. With over 3,000 vertical gain, the route ascends to the top of Gray Butte with panoramic views of central Oregon and the Three Sisters. Then your reward, an almost uninterrupted descent with spectacular views of the sheer rock faces that make Smith Rock State Park a mecca for climbers.

For those who don’t want to go 15 miles or 50K, but still want incredible views and sweet single-track, then this is the option. It’s not flat – you will earn your views.
