Every spring, multiple Southwest Portland Faith Organizations and Community Partners join hands to meet the need of hunger specifically, by working to supply Neighborhood House’s food pantry, the largest food pantry west of the Willamette.
What can $1 buy me at a grocery store? One, maybe two, canned goods at the most. For $1, Neighborhood House can buy 4 pounds of food directly from Oregon Food Bank. We quickly realized we could turn a simple canned food drive into a huge tool to empower Neighborhood House and reach hundreds more hungry neighbors.
This is where you come in. We invite you to run with us in our third annual SW Hope Feed the Hungry 5K because each $1 we raise together far outweighs it’s worth in canned goods individually. If we run together, our neighbors here in SW Portland won’t have to experience the insecurity of not knowing where their next meal is coming from.
