FUNDRAISING - As this is a charity event to benefit the families of wounded or fallen Navy SEALs, swimmers are asked to participate in fundraising. While $2000 is the ideal fundraising goal per swimmer, we appreciate the best efforts of our participants in helping us reach this year’s total fundraising goal of $900,000.  Before registering, we ask that you please consider your ability to meet that dollar amount as you may be taking the slot of a swimmer who has every intention of meeting or exceeding that goal.  If you’re registering just to set a PR or check off a bucket list item, this may not be the swim for you. Please remember, this is more than just a swim. Fundraising can be done via our imAthlete.com page, Classy Fundraising platform, collecting donations personally or through the “Donate” button on our home page. Please visit www.navysealfoundation.org to learn more about this very special cause.

AMENITIES - All swimmers will receive an American made event t-shirt and hoody designed by Navy SEAL owned Industry Threadworks and upon finishing will be awarded a TB Frogman coin presented by a Gold Star family member.  Afterwards, everyone is invited to drive, boat, kayak or swim to the post race party at Hula Bay.  The party will feature a buffet lunch, Terry Tomalin’s Frog Grog provided by 3Daughters Brewing, the awards ceremony and a raffle with some awesome prizes.  Guests can purchase an entry wristband (covers food/beer) for $20 at the finish area or at Salt Shack.

FITNESS LEVEL - The Frogman Swim, a 3.4-mile open water event, may be challenging for even seasoned swimmers, therefore it is recommended that swimmers possess some degree of open water experience or, at the very least, competitive long distance pool experience.  To ensure the safety of the swimmers, the event committee will reserve the right to review the swimming experience of each participant and possibly deny registration to the event if safety concerns exist; or some swimmers may be asked to furnish a letter from a sanctioned swim team or masters coach attesting to their ability to complete such an arduous open-water event.

WATER TEMPERATURE - The water temperature of Tampa Bay is usually between 55-63 degrees in January, and as a result, wetsuits are mandatory. Exceptions, i.e., swimmers training for the English Channel, etc., will be made on case by case basis at the race director’s discretion prior to the event.
