Come out and celebrate the return of our threatened River Herring (alewife) at Peconic Baykeeper’s 2nd Annual “Alewife Run 5K” fun run event! Every year, thousands of alewives migrate through the Peconic Estuary and “run” into freshwater to spawn. Once again, we will be running with them! The race will take place on a scenic course (race on road) that follows part of Southampton’s legendary alewife spawning run to Big Fresh Pond. Race time starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. so please arrive on time to check in, stretch your fins, and race to the finish! Fish costumes and decor are highly encouraged and race T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 100 registrants.
Registration: $25 advance ($30 Day of Race)
