This is a two part/ or individual race series! Your choice! Sign up for both races up to the day of first race and receive a $10 discount! Great flat fast training race prior to Grand Rapids or Borgess 1/2!
“Why We Run Roads” is a 5k/10k out and back, flat, fast and timed. 5k is entirely on hard pack crushed limestone. 10k miles 2-4 on paved section. Great for the first time or experienced runner looking for a fast run with good competition.
We are in our NINTH year! Hard to believe! The start and finish is on the bike path off Riverside Dr. located 4.7 miles East of Bridge St. coming from Saranac and 3.2 miles West of 66 coming from Ionia.
$20 for the 5k and $25 for the 10K! $10 for the timed mile! (until October 1st online). Sign up on race day for $5 more ($25 for the 5k and $30 for the 10K)
TIMED MILE: Track runners and wanna- be’s! – chip timed mile – all ages! The mile will start promptly at Noon. There is a 15 minute time limit for the mile so that the other races can begin on time.

10K – 12:30 pm
5k – 12:40 pm

Awards: Overall winners for each race, male and female – will receive a trophy and gift certificate to Gazelle sports! All finishers receive a finsher’s medal and an entry into drawing for free comp entry into the Fall 2020 GR full or Half Marathon! Enter both races and get your name entered 4 times!!

“Why We Run Trails” will be held on the beautiful trails surrounding Session Lake within the Ionia State Park on Friday evening July 31st starting 6:30PM. This is a timed but challenging 5k/10k. There will be no kids dash at this year’s race.
Sign up for both races and save $5 per race and also quadruple your chance of winning a free entry for the Grand Rapids ½ or full marathon this fall! Entry in to 1 race gives you 1 chances, entry in both gives you 4 chances! A $140 value!
Parking info: This event is in a state park. State park pass is REQUIRED for entrance. If you do not have one, you can purchase one at the gate day of entry $16. If you choose not to, there is a park and ride south of the park entrance just off 96. THERE IS NOT A SHUTTLE PROVIDED! Please share info with any race fans coming to cheer you on! We want everyone leaving HAPPY – not surprised :)
