Wilmington Whiteface Whiskey Run Presented by Haselton Lumber and the Little Super Market

Welcome to beautiful Wilmington, NY, the home of Whiteface Mountain and, this summer, the 10K Whiskey Run! But why a Whiskey Run you ask? As it turns out, the area has quite a storied history with liquor, legal and otherwise. During the War of 1812 Wilmington supplied good rye whiskey to the American troops at the Battle of Plattsburgh as part of their daily ration. During prohibition with its proximity to Canada, Wilmington residents distilled moonshine and provided temporary haven for bootleggers crossing the border, and to this day, Wilmington is home to US Barrel, the oldest whiskey barrel cooperage in the Northeast.  So with our somewhat checkered history and natural beauty we invite you to join us for the inaugural Wilmington Whiteface 10K Whiskey Run June 17th, 2017 starting at 9:30 am. Following the race is the awards ceremony with lunch available at Pourman’s Tap House along with free whiskey tasting by area distilleries and a demonstration of barrel making by US Barrel with a chance to win a whiskey aging kit. Run participants will receive a t-shirt and a “swag bag” filled with quality local goods.

 10k Run- (race must be completed by 11:30 AM to qualify as race finisher)

Begin at Whiteface Corners, go south1 km on NYS Route 86 and turn left onto Bowman Lane (aka Beach Road).  Turn around at the barricade to go back out to NYS Route 86 and turn left. Go 3 km and turn left (west) onto Fox Farm Road (it has a left-hand running/biking lane). At the 5km mark there will be an aid station with a porta-potty and a water station. Continue on Fox Farm Road, cross Springfield Road to Indian Rock Road.  Continue on Indian Rock Road (a loop road) for about 1 km until you return to Springfield Road. Turn right onto Springfield Road (the running/biking lane is on the left-hand side).  Continue on Springfield Road until you reach NYS Route 86 (about 2 ½ km) and turn left.  Continue across the bridge, staying on the left side of the road until you reach the corner and follow the crosswalk across Rt 86 and across Whiteface Road to the finish, back where you started.  Volunteers and law enforcement will be on-hand to cheer you on and get you around the course!

Race-day registration

Limited registration is available for $35 on the day of the event from 8:00am – 9:15am at the booth in front of Pourman’s Tap House.

 

Parking

At Pourman’s Tap House parking lot, at the Visitors Bureau parking lot, on-street parking throughout the town, or along the cemetery road in the Pleasant View Cemetery (just up Bonnieview Road a few hundred feet), and along the wide shoulders of Whiteface Highway.

Awards and prizes will be presented at 11:45 am.

 

Prizes for top three overall finishers, male and female, as well as top 3 male and female finishers in each age category, age as of race day. 19& under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

 

Lunch

Pourman’s Tap House racers and family buffet lunch available for $10.00 per person pre-paid with online registration before June 11th. (at www.adirondackcoastevents.com )  Pourman’s Tap House menu also available on race day.
