It is highly recommended to carpool as you can.  Otherwise, when the parking lot is full, you will need to walk a quarter of a mile to the next parking lot

You will turn onto 87th Street but will follow the road straight down until you see the Detour sign guiding you into the park.  You will keep straight past the dog park.  Keep going past the parking on your left.  You will see the paved parking lot on your right which is closer to the playground and shelter.  Packet Pick-Up will be at the Shelter and the starting line for both the 5k & Half Marathon will also be at that area.  Parking is limited in that area so if it is full when you arrive you can park at the paved area near the lake and walk over.

THE ORGANIZER & RACE DIRECTOR.

My passion for running started when I began training the last week of December in 2015 to run my very first Half Marathon in San Diego, CA in 2016. I followed a training schedule for 11 weeks and completed it Sunday, March 13, 2016. I was nervous and excited, but my initial plan was to check off the box that I did it.  Once I completed that goal,  I couldn't stop thinking about when I'd do the next one. I'm already signed up for 8 Half Marathons in 2017 and have completed 3 of the 8 as of May 8, 2017 which makes a total of 8 Half Marathons overall thus far.

Through running I'm challenged to show the three sons I gave birth to what achieving your goals, and never giving up looks like. It has also been about healing from the inside out from a divorce and weight gain due to stress following the divorce. I have set mini goals and crushed every single one! I've met some amazing people throughout the journey and some that have become very close friends.

In 2017, I entered and was selected in the lottery for the Bank of American Marathon in Chicago and I'm excited to say that I started and finished my very first Marathon on Sunday, October 8, 2017. This journey has been more than running for me. I have completed 26 organized race events has ranging from distances of 5k's, 10k's, 12k's, 15k's, 10 miles, and Half Marathon's and to date, 1 Marathon. I am not planning to stop anytime soon, I'm JUST getting warmed up. There are more Marathon's in my future and I look forward to continuing to make new friends on the pavement and off the pavement making sure every I encounter knows how much they matter!

I look forward to seeing where this running journey takes me and representing as a Half Fanatic and looking forward to the goal of being a Marathon Maniac/Double Agent! Here's to more miles on the pavement and fun times across the world! I was NOT a fan of running when I was in the Army, but now as a Veteran I can't imagine my life without running. I couldn't be more honored to host my very first event as a Race Director. When you put your Faith at work, ANYTHING is possible. Phil 4:13
