Marathon results
After finishing eighth a yer ago, Tesfaye Abera (2:06:58) outpaced almost 9,400 runners to win this year’s Haspa Marathon Hamburg in Northern Germany.
Philemon Rono (2:07:20) cut just over a minute from his fourth-place finish a year ago to secure second.
He took third in 2014.
Josphat Kiprono rounded out the top three with a time of 2:10:44.

For the women, it was Meselech Melkamu (2:21:54) coming in comfortably ahead of the field.
Last year’s winner Meseret Hailu earned runner-up honors with a time of 2:26:26, while Anja Scherl (2:27:50) took third.
