Marathon results
Jason Howe (2:37:40.58) cut more than a minute and a half from his winning time a year ago, to defended his title in the REVEL Big Cottonwood Marathon in Salt Lake City, Utah.
More than 1,200 runners took part in the downhill race from the Wasatch Mountains to the foothills of Salt Lake City, which includes a 5,278 foot drop in elevation.
Matt Moncur secured second with a time of 2:40:51.25.
Matthew Pinegar (2:45:19.51) rounded out the top three.

For the women, it was Kristen Olsen (2:54:04.25) taking the top spot.
Tiffany Johnson finished second with a time of 2:55:44.09.
Rhea Deroian (2:59:13.30) was the only other runner to finish under three hours.

Half Marathon results
Jon Gauthier (1:09:26.26) bested a field of nearly 2,400 to win the REVEL Big Cottonwood Half Marathon.
Chris Lundberg came in second with a time of 1:10:29.81.
Steve Hooper (1:12:29.86) was the only other runner to come in under an hour and 15 minutes.

For the women, it was Kate Pettit winning with a time of 1:20:48.98.
Keila Merino (1:22:30.13) was able to hold off Aubrey Denton (1:23:13.02) for third.
