The tradition continues on Feb 16th, 2019 in Williamsburg, Virginia. 2019 begins a new chapter in this prestigious run. Colonial Half Marathon Runners start at 8:30 Am on Nassau Street adjacent to the Dewitt Wallace Art Museum in Colonial Williamsburg follow Nassau St. to Prince George St. go right on Prince George St and enter historical Colonial Williamsburg run past the Governors mansion and left on Nicholson St. then right on Waller St and take a take a right at the bus stop and enter the path leading to path leading pass the capitol Building and onto the Duke of Gloucester St. Run to the Armory building and then left to cross Francis St. and onto S. England St. and pick up the traditional course running running an out and back on the Carters Grove Country Rd. On the way back runners take a left on Newport Ave and then right on Nassau up fortitude Hill to the finish. Participants receive a long Sleeve performance T, finisher medal and entry to the Colonial Bash.
Awards: Cash Awards to top three Overall men and women. $500 1st, 300 2nd and 200 3rd. Medals for the Top ten overall men and women, Top three men and women Masters, Top three men and women Grand Masters, 16 and Under, 17-19, five year age groups 20-24 through 75 and over.
5K Runners start at 8:45 AM on Nassau St. Follow Nassau to Prince George, left on Prince George, right on Scotland St, right on Nassau and left on Prince George. enter Historic Colonial Williamsburg run past the Governors Mansion and left onto Nicholson St., Right on Waller St. then right at the bus stop and pickup the path running by the Capitol Building and onto the Duke of Gloucester St. take a left just pass the Armory cross Francis St. and then right on Newport Ave and right on Nassau up fortitude hill and straight to the finish. Participants receive a long sleeve performance T, finisher medal and entry into the Colonial Bash.
Awards: Medals are awarded to the top three men and women overall, Top three men and women Masters and Grand Masters, top three male and female 14 and then five year age groups from 15-19 through 80 and over.
Both races are a Healthy Heart! Healthy Mind! event. A portion of the proceeds benefit Men and Women of Vision and Purpose (MWVP) A program dedicated to mentoring at risk youth in preparation for College.
Additionally, donations can be made to the Daniel G. and Rosemary B. Stimson Track Endowment at W&M. For 39 years the Colonial Half Marathon and 5K benefited the Track and Field program at College of William and Mary, the past success and legacy of this event is due to the guidance and leadership of Coach Stimson for 25 years. Coach Stimson passed away in Oct. of 2017.
