Pony Express Run 5K and Half Marathon

Giddy-Up Cowfolk! It's time to "kick off" your boots and put on your running shoes! The Junior League of St. Joseph invites you to run, walk, swim, gallop, bike, hike, rock climb... it is totally up to you!  You can do your 5k over multiple days or all in one; at home or at our in-person event on Saturday, September 24th at 9:00 AM at the Pony Express Museum in St. Joseph Missouri! You can also participate at home through our virtual 5k your way sign-up. This event offers many opportunities to be the boots on the ground benefiting our community. Kids, friends, and family are all encouraged to help us all move toward our goals.

In 2012, we have established a partnership with the United Way of Greater St. Joseph, who is a major charitable partner of the race. Because of this partnership, the Junior League is able to further its mission of positively impacting the lives of women and children in our community. All proceeds raised by the Pony Express Run benefit the Junior League of St. Joseph and are used to support our community through programs like Cinderella's Closet and Hope Totes and the ongoing effort to engage volunteers and develop empathy through partnership.

In 2012, the Junior League of St. Joseph worked to bring the St. Joseph community the Pony Express 5K and 10K Run. In 2014, we expanded the race by changing the 10K to a half marathon, which brought a mix of people from both inside and outside of our community. Since then, we have had roughly 250 runners participate in the Pony Express Run each year. This year we are moving with the times! We are updating our race to a 5k in-person or virtual do it your way option- whatever you choose (or you can do both!) helps to better the St. Joseph community.
