Roots and rocks, views and memories…We’ll offer them all with our new-for-2014 Table Rock Ultras courses. Gone is practically all of the pavement and in its place are single-track trails and Forest Service Roads. Oh, it still reaches the summit of Table Rock, but we’re taking you on a slightly different path…
Interested in a challenge???
The new courses wind through the Pisgah National Forest on trail (single and doubletrack with some technical sections) and Forest Service Roads. Both will have more elevation gain than their old routes…we’re thinking about 11,000’ of climb for the 50M and 7,000’ for the 50K. Plus, this year, the 50K goes to the summit of Table Rock! Also, remember that we are the first race of the new Carolina Ultra Series!!!
We have already added some exciting new sponsors in Champion, Great Outdoor Provision Company, and Catawba Brewing Company, and will be continuing to work toward making this year’s event one you won’t want to miss! Having awesome sponsors like this means fewer expenses for us, so more money goes to our beneficiary and a more complete experience for the runners with some cool door prizes.
What better way to spend a day in Autumn than running through the beautiful Pisgah National Forest and up to the summit of Table Rock Mountain? Our new start/finish area is the family-friendly Steele Creek Campground and this year and we have a spot reserved for free camping for runners (RV’s have a $10/night charge.) Proceeds are going toward the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, a 1,000+ mile trail that connects western and eastern North Carolina, and many places in between.
Table Rock Ultras has verbal approval from the U.S. Forest Service and is completing the paperwork for its official permit. The new date of October 18 will mean the potential for a some Fall color on the hardwoods. Registration is now open on Ultrasignup.com.
