The Heroes for Children 5K and Family Fun Walk will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the South Mountain Recreation Complex’s Clipper Pavilion (between the playground the paddle boats) in West Orange (rain or shine). Join your neighbors, community and friends for a fun-filled day and help us raise awareness about child abuse and neglect in New Jersey and learn about the difference local Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) and Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) make in a child’s life. The Heroes for Children 5K (USATF-Certified) & Family Fun Run/Walk will raise awareness about child abuse prevention and resources, and help provide services to children in all 21 counties, through registration fees and sponsorships.
On September 21, 2019, registration and packet pick up begin at 7:30am. The opening ceremony will begin at 8:30am and the 5K will begin promptly at 9am followed by the Fun Run/Walk at 10am. We added a Virtual Run option this year for those who want to participate but live too far or can’t run/walk on that day. Medals will be awarded to the top male and female runners in each age group. Superhero costumes are encouraged! Following the 5K and Fun Walk, join us for music, face painting, crafts, and other activities. Afterwards, take a walk to the Turtle Back Zoo or the playground. Receive $5 admission to the Turtle Back Zoo, Codey Arena, and miniGOLF Safari on the day of the event with proof of registration.
Ample parking is available across the street from the Clipper Pavilion: http://www.essexcountyparks.org/south-mountain/the-waterfront
